Membership in the Indiana Alpha chapter of Tau Beta Pi is by invite only. If you have received an invite, congratulations! We hope to celebrate you even more as a fellow member and friend if you join our chapter. Read further below for more information on the new member process and what it takes to be initiated into the Indiana Alpha chapter.
In order to be invited, a student must hold junior or senior standing by academic credit, or be a graduate student. Juniors by credit must be in the top 12.5% of the entire junior class in the College of Engineering. Seniors by credit must be in the top 20% of the entire senior class in the College of Engineering. Graduate students must be in the top 20% of all graduate students in the College of Engineering. All students who meet these requirements are identified by the Office of the Registrar and contacted by both letter and email at the beginning of the Fall and Spring semesters based on their current cumulative GPA.

New Member Process
- Receive invite and attend one callout time detailed on the invite
- Attend All-Member Meeting 1 for your first taste of Tau Beta Pi!
- Complete casual interview with an Officer (scheduled in the middle of semester)
- Get elected by Active Members and pay initiation fee
- Complete minimum attendance requirements detailed at AMM 1 throughout semester
- Meet Officers by completing a signature sheet by the last general meeting
- Attend IN Alpha initiation ceremony (or another chapter’s ceremony if approved)
